Several questions need to be answered to determine if that is a good deal or bad deal! What year is the truck? Is it an automatic or stick shift? Do you have any idea of the type of use the truck had? Was it used to tow trailers, or just as a commuter type truck?

The mileage is a bit on the high side, but the diesel engines can easily get 500,000 miles if (and that is a BIG IF) they are properly cared for!

If you e mail me the information about the truck, I can research the value for you.

It is possible, You didn't state what year this is?? You can get 500,000 miles of a ford diesel, I own a 2000 F350 with 7.3 power stroke auto trans 4X4 not a dually and I have 432,447 miles on it and the only thing I have had to replace was the transmission at 300,000. still have original injectors, turbo, I have replaced belts and hoses, but that is common. I do lube oil and filters every 5000 miles faithfully, I have the trans serviced every 25,000 miles and both rear and front pumpkins then as well, so if you take care of your outfit it will last.

I too would suggest getting a car fax report on it.
I know I can sell mine for 10,000-15,000 because I can show everything that has been done to that truck since 08/2000 when I bought it.

well it's true a power stroke will last a long time and a lot of miles, but like any motor it is how well you take care of it..oil changes and air filter.. if ...and i say IF it was taken care of it would still be at the end of it's life. the same with the trans. so if the body is cherry and you can put maybe another 4 grand or more in it then it's a good deal. do the math.. this engine and trans. WILL need a rebuild soon.

you dont say what year the model was produced, but personally, I wouldnt buy it for that price. Shoot, I probably woulnt buy it at all. Well maintained trucks can last a long time, few vehicles last that long without things starting to wear out.

I've got an F250 with 225,000 original miles. I'll sell it to you for half that;)

That's about the mileage I replaced the engine in mine. Although mine was a 454. The average life span of a vehicle regardless of fuel type, is 10 years.

diesel engines do last a long time if they were properly maintained. but you still have to worry about the rest of the truck.
transmission
electrical systems
steering components
air conditioning
etc........
