Which book or books should I buy? Also, was the GMAT easier or harder than you expected?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

I didn't use a book by itself. I took a Kaplan course and used their study materials. I started prepping really early, about 2 months in advance. Every weekend I took a practice exam at home. In the end, I was very satisfied with the course and mostly satisfied with my results. I choked on the essays, though, which were at the beginning of the exam. Then again, my friend (who was also taking the GMAT) and I went out and had a huge German meal and got pretty loaded the night before. It was a miracle I did not get sick during the exam.

Check out this website, MBAAplicant.com. I like it a lot. I've gotten GMAT for Dummies, but I can't compare it because it was the only book I looked at. It seemed pretty good.
