Hi

at college I used to be friends with this girl, at first she was great, but now I have figured out she is VERY two-faced and makes my life an absolute nightmare. Living in the same college house as her (next door to mine) I see her every day, I am in the same classes as her so it's very hard to avoid her, she spreads lies about me, and when I last stood up for myself, I was accused of being a bully! When I said nothing rude and do nothing but stick up for her despite the amount I hate the girl! I tried avoiding her, talking to her, and for a while she is fine then she goes onto an attention seeking rant and the staff just think I am being mean. All my fellow students tell me what an attention seeking b**** she can be, and have on many occasions said nasty things about her, but still I refuse to gang up on her. She even claimed rape on a friend of mine so she could get some attention!!!

How do I deal with her without being accused of bullying, or being mean =/

Just keep your distance from her whenever you can, and if you can move to another accommodation, I would strongly suggest doing this.

It's good that other people know what she's like, it means that you have tacit support from them.

She claimed to have been raped, just to get attention? What a terrible thing to do to someone ...

Don't give her the attention she craves. She will push and push for it, but stay calm and do not allow her to push your buttons. Whenever she tries to talk to you, just look at her between the eyes with a stony expression, and when she stops talking, turn and walk away. She'll get the message soon enough.

She's either very childish or is a secret addict of something, given her 'they're either for me or against me' mentality.

You really can't win - she is playing you like her toy and nothing you can do or not do will stop her.
Just avoid her like the plague and rather than stick up for her or dish dirt on her - make the comment that she is really not worth any of your thoughts on the matter.
If she approaches you for something - excuse yourself immediately - "So sorry - just remembered I left the budgie in the microwave" or something equally non-anything should make her eventually decide you are not worth playing with.

go to student services and talk about what's going on and possibly switch houses.
