The day of ovulation is different for everyone. The day of ovulation can change in each cycle. It is a myth that for everyone it occurs on a certain day- even if two people have the same cycle length.
The only day you get can pregnant is when you ovulate. The day you ovulate, your body releases the egg. The egg lives a maxium of 24 hours. However, sperm can live up to five days in fertile cervical mucus but most live three days. Your fertile phase are the 3-4 days prior to ovulation and the day of ovulation. In order to maximize your chances of getting pregnant, you would have sex every 24 hours during this time.
No one can tell you when you are going to ovulate- not any person and most certainly not any standard calendar on the internet. They are all just a guess.
Since your husband is leaving have sex on the 8th & 9th day of your cycle before he leaves. If you ovulate anywhere from the 9th day to the 14th day of your cycle you have a chance of getting pregnant. Remeber though that there is only a 25% chance in each cycle that you will become pregnant.
The only way to accurately know when you ovulate and when you are in your fertile phase is to chart your waking temperature and observe your cervical mucus. Read the book: Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. The book explains your cycle, charting and how to get pregnant. This book is a must read. Buy a basal thermometer at the drug store. Start charting your waking temperatures so that you can get an accurate picture of what is happening in your cycles. This information can aid you in having sex at the correct time.
If you do not get pregnant this time, while your husband is gone start educating yourself and charting your waking temperature. This way when he gets back, you will know exactly what to do.
Some other tips:
-When having baby sex, do not use lube (KY Jelly, astroglide, etc) it renders sperm immobile. If you want to use lube, use preseed. Preseed promotes a sperm friendly atmosphere. http://www.preseed.com/
-Do not douche or use scented tampons. They alter the acidity of the vagina.
-Do not have oral sex when you are having baby sex. Saliva can kill sperm.
-Have sex in the missionary position. This allows for the deepest penetration and will deposit the sperm closest to the cervix.
-After sex, stay laying down with your pelvis slightly elevated/tilted for 15 minutes.

Go to www.babycenter.com and click "Tools" and then "Ovulation Calculator". You usually ovulate 14 days or so after the start of your period.
You can only get pregnant if you are fertile at the time or will be ovulating within a day or so of the intercourse since sperm can live for up to 5 days in the right conditions. If you are trying to conceive then it's best to have sex every day the week that you will be ovulating. You can also tell if you are ovulating by checking your cervical mucus. Fertile cervical mucus has an eggwhite color, is very stretchy, and moist.

Yes, I did. I ovulate earlier than the normal 14 days after. I conceived around day 9-10 and I'm now 20 weeks pregnant. Good luck!

It is possible. Try to use an ovulation predictor test through the whole month. Obviously, all women are different.
I ovulated and got pregnant right after my period with both my kids. It was my 5th or 6th day of my cycle.
