I'm writing my senior research paper and i chose to write all about the denial of the holocaust. I'm writing and defending from the point that it didn't happen how scholars, the media, survivors, groups, etc. told the world.

i was curious (if you dont mind) if there's anyone on here who doesn't think the holocaust happened, and if you could tell me why or add facts.

thank you!

im not trying to be disrespectable by saying that the holocaust didn't happen.

and i do believe that the holocaust did happen. so if your hear to get two points and say this is stupid. leave. your lame.

and like celina said (comments below) i'm just curious as to WHY people deny it.

Why would you want to write such a thing? There can be some disagreement on details, but there is endless evidence that it was more or less what historians say. I have visited Dachau and Auschwitz concentration camps. Auschwitz (in 1992) was especially poignant, because they had no English tours (it is in Poland). I am fluent in German, and so we took a German tour. My husband and I were the only persons on it. The tour guide kept listening to my translation, and asked for some clarifications. She said she was trying to learn enough English so once more Americans cared enough to visit, she would be able to give them a tour in English. We were the first American tourists she had ever met.

Have you watched the films of the opening of the concentration camps that are readily available? Or the films made by the Germans to document their own crimes?

I have no personal reason to care. I am not Jewish, and none of my relatives went to concentration camps. My husband and I just care enough to witness history first hand. Unless you have done that, you may not understand how disrespectful to millions of dead people your choice of topic may sound.

I know this is not a direct answer to your question, but, indirectly, I hope I am helping you decide to write something a bit more realistic, and more destined to be a successful paper.

Later edit: I apologize if I misunderstood your point, but my understanding was that you did not want to examine why holocost deniers are wrong, but rather why they might be right, at least in part. That was the reason for my answer.

In case you haven't noticed, she's asking why you believe the Holocaust "didn't exist".

I personally believe it existed but there are some dummies out there that continue to deny it.

That is a good topic to write about because not everyone will think about it. She's not trying to tell us she believes it didn't exist, she just wants points of views of WHY those people deny it.

It's actually very interesting that you're writing about that btw. Love it!

If you pay close attention to Holocaust deniers, you'll find that the case they try to make has three basic components: 1. It never happened. 2. It was greatly exaggerated. 3. The Jews had it coming.

In short, they don't have a legitimate case to make. They don't have the facts on their side. They have only an unquenchable hatred of Jews. They wish Hitler had finished the job. You probably think you're being brave and open-minded and intellectually adventurous with this project, but you are really only being seduced into a grotesque tap dance of historical distortion and dishonesty.

Researching Holocaust deniers is a legitimate enterprise. Anyone who exposes them is doing the world a favor. Anyone who tries to defend their point of view is flirting with madness and evil.

I belive the Holocaust DID happen, i mean how can you DENY the death of Millions of people because of one group of people? There are still people who actualy were there and are survivers from the Holocaust.

I wonder WHY the HEAK anyone would doubt the existance of the Holocaust!

While I agree that Holocaust deniers are being blind to the evidence that is right there, I heard one semi-decent (and I use that term lightly) reason. I heard the argument made once that it could have been disease. Jews tended to live together in groups, kind of like we have Chinatown and whatnot in America, I believe, so it could have been passed on easily. This in itself is a very weak argument - but an idea. Maybe it will lead you to other, better ideas. You could look up famous Holocaust deniers and read their arguments if you haven't already done so - but one of the earlier answers is correct in saying that they are full of holes.

Denying the holocaust is like denying the Sun exists.

With all the facts and photos and all that is in the archives of history, I don't think you will find all that much on "It didn't happen." You're also liable to get some nasty answers on here.
