I just reread the problem. The book says x/x = 2, which is, as stated by many, impossible. My son came up with the same solution as Steiner (thank you!), that x = 0 which is, of course, impossible as well. My answer was "It's a misprint". But I don't know the mathematical expression for misprint. Thank you one and all!

If it is a copied assignment/homework, try to see the copy of the classmate or ask the teacher what is the original one. There seems to be a problem... yes, any number divided by itself is 1.

Thus, the problem might have been different and was copied incorrectly.

This equation implies that x = 2x. So the
only solution is x = 0. But 0/0 is undefined,
so the original equation has no solution.
Another way to think of it:
x cannot be zero and if x <> 0 x/x = 1.
So the original problem yields 1= 2, which is
impossible.

appears like a project for calculating territory (or section). you have L for length and W for width so: length equals Width + 2 length cases Width equals the section (Width+2) -which by utilising the way is the scale- cases Witgh equals a hundred and twenty which ability length cases Width equals a hundred and twenty which ability the section is a hundred and twenty uncertain what the little ^ sign ability so will not be able to help you with that section... Width = -12 isn't a valid answer because of the fact width will not be able to be a damaging huge type Width equals 10 yards - this is the valid answer for width (that i've got faith you probably did not get while fixing the concern) if Width is 10 yards, then length = Width + 2 = 12 yards with the intention to coach that Width = 10 and Lenght - 12 you ought to multiply them and see in the event that they equivalent a hundred and twenty (the section this is given above) 10*12=a hundred and twenty - this is the evidence that length and width have been calculated properly. desire i replaced into of help.

x/x=2 that means 1/1=2 or 1=2 no sol.

That is not possible, as x/x is equal to 1. There is no solution for x.

no solution to that problem. any number divided by it self always equals 1

if it is truly x/x=2 in the math book, then there is an error in the math book.

if so then x = square root of 2

There's something wrong with what you've typed. x/x is always 1.
