i need a new power supply for this BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT 512MB Video Card that i want to buy, but i never changed the power supply before. will this change of power supply effect other components? or harm them?

P.S i have a 7350 LE Nvidia right now, do i need to change the power supply if i change to another 7000 series?

8500GT is not really power hungry, draws less than 30 watts. Your 7350LE could be drawing around 20 watts. If you current power supply has 16 amps or more on the +12V rail, it should have no problem running the 8500GT all day long.

Bigger power supplies won't harm anything in your PC. They would just deliver the power that your PC needs, nothing more. Big power supplies run cooler and give you lots of elbow room for upgrades.

u might not need a new power supply
the 8500 dosent take up that much energy
changing the p.s. will do nothing the the other components
you probably wont need a new ps unles its less than 400 watts and even if its less try it the worst it could do is give you a pop up in windows telling you that there isnt enough power
