Why is the proverbial question. Why are there people with criminal backgrounds?

Like most financial companies, Wells Fargo checks criminal, credit and driving backgrounds. They will develop a score for you based on their own weighting which takes into account age, income, etc. to determine if you are hire-able or not. The criminal and credit will have the highest weighting although any big negatives on your driving record could prove problematic as well. So good luck and should you not get the job I would ask them in writing to provide you with the specifics of your background check to look for any inaccuracies and then clean them up with the appropriate agencies.

Because they don't want convicted criminals working for them. In cases where they are willing to hire people with some criminal background, they also use the background check to determine if the applicant has been honest with them. The extent of the background check will depend on the employer.

Wow. That question just raises more questions. Just how many skeletons are dancing around in your closet? You're not applying to work at my kids' school or at my bank, are you? Where exactly is Jimmy Hoffa buried?

The reason they run background checks is to limit the liability they are assuming by hiring you. If you're a child molesting, embezzling, car-thieving, bank robber with a drug habit and you pick up guys in the airport mens' room, you're going to have a hard time finding a job outside of Congress.

Isnt it just like people like you to ask a specific question and not give enough specific information to answer it?
If you apply as a roofer or carpenter with your brother, you would not likely have any background check done. However, if you apply with the FBI, an intense background check over multiple states would be done.

Depends on the job you are applying for. Teachers, medical, etc, are required by the government for FBI and state checks. Jobs where you could be privledge to confidental information, or large sums of money also check to see if a potential problem may exist.

Because they don't want criminals working for them?
It doesn't matter how they run the check. Your state will be linked to NCIC and will show out of state arrests.

they do that so they wont hire some maniac who may snap at any moment.....if you apply for a position in a hospital/nursing home..they do a background check and make sure you dont have any abuse on your record...such as domestic violence...i know because a girl didnt mention on her app bout being charged for fighting a girl...well, they hired her, and ran the background check afterwards, so they fired her for lying on her application. the employers just want to know who they are hiring, and what things are on future employees record.
