Looks like your car is equipped with self leveling suspension; that has gone bad.

Self leveling suspension (sometimes called load leveling suspension) automatically levels the car when you have something in tow (ie; using a tow hitch).

hances are that you have a bad sensor or component in your suspension system. If you can't find the section in your owner's manual that gives you any hints, then you will probably have to go to the BMW dealership and have your trouble codes "scanned" for the answer. In my neighborhood, the local BMW dealer performs this service for free, maybe you'll get lucky, too. The hydraulic system in a BMW may have a leak somewhere in a hose attachment or a sensor that's beginning to act up. Good luck!!

It's the system that keeps the car in its original hight when heavely laoded, and you have to check with the dealership for this.
