Your hard drive has nothing to do with identifying what type of computer you have or what type of memory you use. Hard drives are universal devices when it come to computers. The only thing you need to know is what type of data transfer will it use, SATA or IDE/EIDE etc.

The type of memory you use is a function of the CPU and the BIOS. There isn't a specific pin.

Compaq does not make hard drives. Hard drives are usually made by Seagate/Maxtor, Western Digital, Hitachi, Samsung, and old ones by Everex and Quantum.
