The Omaha shooting is believed to have happened via an M16 rifle. Early local reports say that the gunman killed himself but it wasn't certain if there was more than 1 gunman.
The shooting occurred on the 3rd floor of the Von Maur store.

As far as gun laws go, it has not been proven that changing them will stop those who want guns from getting them. Those who shouldn't have guns will still & always be able to get their hands on them. How strict or not the gun laws are will not matter.

Guns and gun laws... What a very emotive issue.
Sorry if I shock... but I personally love firearms. I love handguns. Can't really explain why but I do. It could very well be a childish thing. I guess I believe in the statement "PEOPLE KILL NOT GUNS" -- just like "PEOPLE KILL NOT KNIVES"
Note that I HATE hunting !!! I have never and will never shoot a living creature for fun or sport. But I love firearms, the way they feel, the way they look, they are beautiful things !!!! Some people collect small pieces of paper (stamps).... I like handguns !! I held a firearms certificate for 13 years and owned a beautiful Smith & Wesson and was a member of a gun club in England.... until that basttard killed those little children in Danblane. All handgun licences were then withdrawn.

I live in Lincoln, NE and am praying that none of my family or friends was a victim of the shooting today.

There is already an angry, heated debate about gun laws on the Lincoln Journal-Star online message board. Conceal/carry is allowed in Lincoln, but not Omaha, so already people are screaming that if Omaha had a CCW ordinance the gunman could have been stopped.

Seriously, can't we just take some time to wait for more facts to come out before we start arguing about what caused it and what could have stopped it?

I'm in pain for the victims' family members. What an especially horrible time of year to lose a loved one, taken from them in the worst way.

I live in Omaha.

The gun man was a 19 year old boy who went to papillion lavista high, then dropped out, he lived in bellevue, worked at a mcdonalds there.

he shot 8 people and himself.... 2 people are critical , 3 people have minor wounds...

I used to work at Westroads mall, in hollister... people got killed in the gift wrapping area in von maur which is one of the entrances in the mall... ummmmmmmmm idk

thats all i kno, i just want to know the victims names because i am worried about my friends and people i worked with.

I know that Americans won't like my answer but I am totally opposed to guns In every country in the world. What a much better and safer place this world of ours would be without them.I have never heard just one logical reason why civilian's can own these weapons.
