This is very sad. I live in Omaha and this is so rare. I think the fact that the president was in town could have contributed to this. It is so sad. We never could have expected this. And its around the holidays....So sad.

I live in Edinburgh, Scotland and we just heard about the shooting on the 10 o'clock news 9 people shot dead I was really shocked in a shopping centre of all places its like me and my family shopping in the Gyle our local shopping centre where families go every day of the week. My prayers go out to all those who were shot and injured.
EDIT: In response to lili the reason why the US government won't strengthen the gun laws is because the gun lobby like the national rifle association is in bed with the government plus the NRA is a very powerful body. And it is within the US constitution that they have the right to bear arms. some people have an arsenal of weapon within their own homes enough to start a small war.

It's awful. He's killed 8 and himself, what a waste of life, and at Christmas too. My heart goes out to the families of the victims, as well as the family of the gunman, because their Christmases will be forever tainted by this.

Crazy stupid. And it happened 1 hour after Pres. Bush left the Mall? That sure is interesting. I guess he took all the security people with him.

How awful for the families of the people who were killed.

Its going to worsen the closer christmas gets. i do no longer save nowhere between now and yuletide. All my presents I have already got, or the individuals will could look ahead to the after christmas sale. Its too risky in my city. between the crazed clientele and the i do no longer care thugs, you do no longer stand an excellent gamble.

It's awful. Those poor innocent people. My prayers are with everyone affected by the lunacy of the gunman.
