I'm considering getting a housekeeper when I move to Georgia. I'm a grad student and don't have the time to clean. I can't stand doing it, either. :) I know nothing of this process and would like some insight.

a) What is the approximate cost for cleaning an average 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house once a week? Do you pay by hour or per visit?

b) Do I need to supply him/her with cleaning supplies or do they bring their own?

c) Do housekeepers do all types of cleaning... not just surface cleaning? I figure surface clean the entire house plus one deep cleaning chore per week.

d) How much is appropriate to tip?

Anything else you could think of to tell me would be great. Thanks!

I have a cleaning business in Alabama. So maybe I have some answers. A company will charge you more than an individual. However keep in mind they should be licensed and bonded to protect you. A company would charge between 60 and 70 per wk. Usually the initial visit is more expensive (100-125) because it is a more thorough clean. They will also provide the cleaners. They should customize a pkg to meet your individual needs.
If you go with an individual person it would be easier for you to provide the cleaners. A fair rate there should be 45 to 50 per wk. A tip is always nice if you are dealing with a company. This is just an incentive for their workers to do a great job for you. Hope this helps

everybody is different about cleaning supplies dome provide some do not as for price it sounds like about 65 to 75 deep cleaning is one thing to ask about and how often ask if they do check for cob webs each time microwaves and top of fridge how often they do edging and do they do shades sounds like it should be by the job and it sounds like it would take around 21/2/ 3 hours Good Luck word of advice those cleaning companies make sure they do a back ground check on there employees or run an add yourself and do your on check you can you know be careful -all this comes from a housekeeper self employed in tn
