If you have the picture there you can compare it to the picture of my youngest son here.... http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c397/sandsgibbons/family/Picture007.jpg
that was at 18wk 5 days and he was being stubborn, so that is a shot from the top and he is facing toward the right.
You can also do a search online for pictures of u/s photos. I found quite a few so that I could actually tell the difference between girls and boys. The hamburger for girl and the turtle for boys really applies.

3 lines or 3 dots means a girl.
I had my first ultrasound on 16weeks, they were only 3 small dots, and then again on 18 weeks became 3 lines and just went to 20 weeks ultrasound for the anatomy, got 3 lines.
3 different ultrasound technician said that I'm having a girl.
So yes, definitely a girl!

No, three lines are three ridges of soft tissue. Its most common to be told its a boy and end up with a girl as some boys testes develop a little more slowly, but once in a while it goes the other way as some girls just have very pronounced lips.
As long as you were over 17 weeks its probable that you got the right sex.
Usually when its a boy you have a clear shot of the testes, which are not elongated like the female genital would be, and in some cases you can see the penis- although not always.
If you got a "from below" shot you can bet you got the right sex- from the front or side can make it harder to see.

its the ol cheeseburger theory, three lines are the buns and the patty, a cheeseburger for a girl, and then a little turtle for a boy. I just found out I am having twins a boy and a girl and you can definitely tell a difference in the two. Most of my family didn't really see the difference in the girl until they saw the boy. But if the technician said that positive of a girl then probably. I would its say a safe bet if you are 20+ weeks along.

hi had the same thing happen to me and the tech was going on and on about how she would be spoiled etc, well happen to go back over one last time and saw that the baby was a boy instead, my suggestion to you is to get an ultrasound done again in a little bit to make sure the baby is a little girl.

If your about 1-5 months they can be wrong. Like they told my sister she was getting a boy and then they changed it. If your farther along then they have a greater chance of being right. Three lines do mean girl though.
