It's my first time voting and gun rights are a big issue for me. I want to make sure that I am not voting for some one who is gonna try and ban the ownership of fire arms.

Hunter, Huckabee and Thompson have not only the rhetoric but also the record and vision of supporting the second amendment. Hunter, for example, gets an A+ from the NRA.

Next are Tom Tancredo and Ron Paul. Probably Tancredo over Paul since Paul voted NOT to reduce the gun purchase waiting period from 3 days down to 1.

Mitt Romney has a mixed record. He says he supports the second amendment but he also supported the assault weapons ban. He says that this is only because he was a "blue state" Governor and he stands by second amendment rights.

Last is Rudy Guiliani. His focus on the criminals is admirable but he loses sights of the encroachment on second amendment liberties.

I am not sure if the democrats are anti-second amendment, but more pro-gun control which is entirely different. If they were anti-second amendment then they would be attempting to introduce an amendment to the constitution which would nulify the second amendment. Instead they may try to introduce gun control that may be seen as unconstitutional and probably taken down by the supreme court. Something rather less dangerous. The problem is that not many people actually know what the second amendment means and stands for, or what it protects. The NRA and others will come out with an erroneuos statements claiming that just about everything is protected by the second amendment which is just not true.

Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter have the best grades according to Gun Owners of America. Huckabee and Tancredo aren't too far behind either. Richardson seems strong, too, but his actions have not always been consistent with his words. Thompson is about average. I don't think they have a current report on Gravel but they're working on it. Everyone else is anti-gun.

I haven't heard any of them say they were against Guns. Giuliani has said he thinks you should have to fill out a form or questionnaire to purchase a gun but he even said it is in the Constitution. I don't see anyone taking anything out of the Constitution that would be a hard sell. It would be easier to add to it.

Obviously, Dr. Ron Paul, the man who believes the U.S. Constitution must be honored and the language of the Constitution must be enforced by the courts. Paul has stated many times his support of the 2nd Admendment.

I'd say Ron Paul, but most republicans with the exception of Rudy, and maybe Mitt.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who will protect the entire constitution. The others just say what people want to hear in order to get votes.

WHY are gun rights a big issue for you? Who is trying to take your guns away? None of the candidates! Yet, you are listening to the gun lobby and the NRA nuts. *you may be one*.

I think you need to revisit, as a first time voter, what is important. What about the erosion of your civil rights? What about health care and the war that your children's children will still be paying for? What about hunger and disease prevention? Why does gun rights trump all those things for you?

I can only assume it's because you're young and following the NRA literature, your parents and family. Do some research. NO ONE is trying to take your guns away.
