there are over 150 reasons that the check engine light will come on. whenever the on-board computer detects a malfunction in a monitored component or system that could cause the vehicle to exceed emissions standards the computer stores a code as to what system or component is involved and turns the light on.

You can take you car to any Autozone parts store or any AAMCO transmission shop in the US and they will pull the code at no charge and tell you why the light is on.

Some reasons are straight forward and you can get an estimate for repairs when they pul the code. Other codes are less specific and will require additional diagnosis to determine if the code is 'real' or an 'intermittant' condition.

start with getting the code pulled. As mentioned above, Autozone and AAMCO won't charge you to do that. If you have any questions after they pull the code, then post a question with the code information and we'll be better able to help you.

hope that helps

If it is stalled you may have no choice but to take it to a repair shop. Make sure the Timing belt didn't break. Honda recommends replacing timing belts at 60k miles.
While you are at it it jelps to test for transmission problems too. Hondas, especially accords built between 1998 and 2002 are notorious for tranny problems.

Not if it worked this time also. I would got to autozone or equivalent and get the code reset for free. Then if it does it again take it to the dealer. You might try a little higher octane fuel.
