You can't have already had your cake and still be able to eat it too. That's what the phrase means. It is kinda confusing, but the phrase meant that you can't undo the past. You've already had your cake, so you can't just spit it back out again and eat it all over again as a whole piece like it was before you ate it.

It is funny how that one works. Just as we start to take the first bite it gets taken away. I just don't things were meant to be that way. Life is like a hard work-out after it we feel good. So, we can get the cake but it is just for looking at not eating.
