If it were real would it need to be dramatized?
Shows like this are a slam dunk. The producers have ready-made story lines, and by adding the "based on a true story" they can basically fabricate anything they want. Since it's all based on something non-material and unprovable they will never be held to any sort of standards of integrity.

It is a dramatization of "real" accounts and witness accounts of ghostly encounters. Its pretty good entertainment.

If even half of it is true..then it's real. Of course they add the scary music & sound effects and probably make it look scarier than it really was. However, it's based on true facts...so it has to be similar to what really happened.

Well thats Hollywood for you! They got to punch it up a little and make it really scary for TV. Shows like that give ghost a bad name. Oh well I'll have to admit I do like a good scary story, and watch it when ever I can. Its not real.

It's VERY dramatized. It's supposed to be based on a true story, but they're not telling us how they determined it to be true. And they're also not telling us just how much the story is based on true events. Is it 99% true and 1% dramatized? Or the other way around? They're not telling.
