Hi all you SoCal yahoo Answers people out there! I'm looking for a convenient location (like a cafe) to meet some. She lives in San Gabriel and I live in Claremont. I'd like something along the 10 that is halfway between us. does anyone live around there / know suggestions for restaurants or cafes?

It's not for a date - it's a job interview. So a bar wouldn't be appropriate.

I used to meet up with a buddy who was living in LaVerne, and I'm also near San Gabriel. We'd go hang out at BJ's Brewery in West Covina. There are a lot of chain restaurants on the 10 just off the Barranca Ave. exit: BJ's, TGI Friday's, Hooter's, etc.

Personally, it's not my idea of a good date, but it is a decent spot to meet up for people to grab a drink without feeling too intimate or too prying. So it's good if you just wanna meet someone from an online dating site to make sure they're not psycho. And if you hit it off, then you can plan a date for something more interesting.

Also, a few exits west on the 10 is the West Covina Westfield Mall. There's a CPK and Chevy's there. And around the corner from that is the Edwards Theater, and it has some restaurants, too.

Okay, scratch that. you could have been more specific with your intentions, y'know. The hasty thumbs-down is just mean.

Starbucks can be noisy, which may be less than idea for a job interview but unlike the other answer, I can tell you where the Starbucks is: it's over by the Barnes and Noble, and there's also one in the Westfield. There's also a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at the Westfield.

And having been to CPK, I know it's generally quiet during the week, and it actually would be good for meeting someone to disucss a job. Get a booth and a soda and you're good to go.

The train costs as much as flying. If you purchased tickets tickets far enough in advance you could fly on Southwest from Oakland to LAX for $49. Other than that consider Greyhound for $44
