There is long-term parking available around the airport. The lot I'm thinking of is on Merriman Road. There are signs for long-term parking. They're not on the airport proper, and they're usually about a half-mile away.

You pull into the lot, park you car, and then take a shuttle to the airport. I've used it, and it's not as inconvenient as it sounds. Once you park in the lot (which is secure, by the way), you stand outside your car with your luggage until the shuttle comes around and picks you up, which usually takes about five minutes. It will drop you off at your entrance when it's your turn, so it takes a while if there are other people on the shuttle.

When you come back to Detroit, you wait outside with your luggage until you see a shuttle the same color as the one you came on, flag it down, and you get back on it and it will drop you off in front of your car. Then you load up your car and you pay on your way out of the lot.

This method takes some effort and patience, but it's efficient and it's very cheap, only a few dollars for the shuttle and only a few dollars a day for parking. It's a fraction of the cost of the airport parking structures.

The other options are getting rides to and from the airport from friends, which lots of people do. Taxis in Detroit are really expensive, so I don't recommend that.

Yes, but where are you starting from??? The SMART suburban buses serve the airport directly from several locations for only $1.50 including downtown Detroit via the #125 Fort bus. Other routes serving the airport include the #285 Middlebelt etc. Check www.smartbus.org for the routes nearest you. Good Luck!

Take a Cab or ride the Smart bus route 125 Fort St. to Metro or you can have an associate, relative or friend drop you off there..

It depend where do you live. I live in dearborn and when I go in a trip more then 10 days I have two options:
1- My friends will drop me off and pickup me up.
2- rent a luxury sedan it cost me 80$ round trip. From my door steps to the airport, back to my door steps.

You can walk. It's free! Ok, but now on a more realistic note, maybe a taxi, Smartbus, or have someone drop you off.

Ask if some one can drop you off, that's what I usually do so I don't have to leave my car.
