I take 3 capsules of omega oil 1200mg, throughout the day as a dietary supplement. Each capsule contains; flax seed oil, borage oil, fish oil, essential fatty acids (EFA's) omegas 3, 6, and 9 oils. These all help the body maintain healthy skin, heart (omega 3 has natural blood thinning qualities, which protects against blood clots a major factor in heart disease.) nervous system, hormonal balance, chronic inflammation, helps reduce excess cholesterol. Cod liver oil and sardines are also high in omega 3, also soya bean and canola oils. All in all, I feel great after having taken my fish and flax seed oils. I cant honestly say that I take them strictly for calming effects, or for anxiety, but they keep this old body going!!

I used it to help get off antidepressants and I'm still taking it. Initially I took 1200mg 3 times a day, but now I take Carlson's Cod Liver oil capsules...2 of those 3 times a day.

Fish oil is good for your brain and heart as well as your skin and the pain of arthritis and will help to reduce high blood pressure and high cholesterol but it is not normally taken for anxiety. Anxiety benefits would either be nil or very insignificant.

I have never heard of it being used for anxiety only as a supplement that is good for its fatty acids which are good for the brain and even better for the use in youngsters as their brains are developing all the time. I take this supplement and i dont feel any different at all i only take them as i am on medication and i want to try and be in good health whilst doing so. Try asking in a halth food shop or the like as im not sure pharmacists would know of anything thats not reported as they mainly deal with medicines

I have heard of it working for depression, so perhaps it would work for anxiety, too, since it helps brain function.
I usually take 4 capsules of Natural Factors pharmaceutical grade fish oil daily and my brain works pretty well and I stay calm.

the reason why Omega's help for depression/anxity is because your cells and neuron cell walls are made out of omegas. You are what you eat!

Omegas help with the viscosity of cells so that antioxidants can weave in and out of the cell wall and neurological signals are able to transmit messages in the nervous system much easier.

Thus, omega oils help with depression/anxiety.

Since cells rely on certain nutritional molecules to function properly and we cannot manufacture them on our own, we must get them from our diet.

Omegas are something we must get from our diet. Thus, there are no dosages, because its food!

You take it until its enough.

Omegas are in nuts, seeds, avocados, flax oil, olive oil, fish oil, blabitty blah.

Read my articles on my profile by clicking on my blogs and scroll down the the omega oil article.

Better nutrition, better overall health in body and mind. Who can benefit from better nutrition? Everybody!

I've never heard of using it for a calming effect. I use chamomille or valerian tea. Are you looking for pills or are teas ok too?
