i have a question regarding the work of an architect. i'm not from the states and here, in europe, (some countries, don't know about them all) you can have a PhD in architecture even if you DIDN'T study architecture itself. so you could study languages and still hold a PhD in arch. my question is this, can you then get a job as an architect or is it out of question since you don't have diploma? can you enter a competition, get a job, etc? thanx a lot!

i am not that familar with it, but the definition of architecture does not apply to just built in the physical sense things, though we often use the word architect to refer to that,
"While the primary application of the word "architecture" pertains to the built environment, by extension, the term has come to denote the art and discipline of creating an actual, or inferring an implied or apparent plan of any complex object or system"
so you could study the architecture of language, of music , politics etc,
