You have like denominators, so just add them.

m/3 + 2m/3 = 3m/3 = m

To find sums of fractions, you need to make sure the bottom of the fraction is the same on both parts by multiplying. For example,

2/3 + 3/4.

The bottoms aren't the same, so we need to find a common multiple. You know that 3 * 4 = 12, so you can multiply the first fraction by 4 and the second by 3 to get 12 on the bottom.

(2/3) * 4 = (2*4) / (3*4) = 8 / 12
and
(3/4) * 3 = (3*3) / (4*3) = 9 / 12.

You could now add them together by just adding the top parts of the fraction together.

8/12 + 9/12 = (8 + 9) / 12 = 17 / 12

So, in this case, your bottoms are already the same (3), so you don't have to worry about multiplying both sides. Just add them together.

(m + 2m) / 3 = 3m / 3.

You can divide both the top and bottom by 3, so you have

m.

and that's your answer!

(m + 2m)/3
-- since the terms on the bottom are alike, you can add the top two numbers
you can think of m as 1m
1m +2m =3m

so the answer is 3m/3 and can be simplified into just m/1 which is the same thing as just m.

Since the denominators are the same, all you have to do is add the top and keep the same denominator.

m/3 + 2m/3 =
(m + 2m)/ 3 =
3m/3 =
m

The answer is just m. That's technically 1m, but you don't need to write the one.

I just added the numerators and kept the denominator since it's the same: (m+2m)/3 = 3m/3 and cancel the 3's.

Great! :)

m/3 + 2m/3 = 3m/3 = m

it's just a third plus two thirds with an 'm' added in!

well with fractions, you can't add them unless you have a common denominator, which in both cases is 3.

so can you add m+2m yup, thats 3m

so the answer is 3m/3= m
