I will always have a problem with people who want to run for government office and represent ALL Americans but then use their own personal religion as a guideline for laws......a big NO NO.
I vote for democrats because they don't claim they are the "party of god"--keep it secular!

For a religious fanatic, Huckabee is not bad. I will not vote for anyone who would grant amnesty or eventual citizenship to any illegal immigrant. This one issue alone narrows my choices to Thompson, Tancredo, Huckabee, and possibly Romney but Romney is currently waffling on certain aspects of the issue. The fact that Huckabee is anti-abortion is of no concern to me because RU-486 can be easily smuggled legally or illegally, plus the Supreme Court - not the president - decides the abortion issue. The president can appoint but he can't control.
Illegal immigration will be a problem for at least the next 8 years. It is the most costly issue other than Iraq that a president could unilaterally affect. Iraq will not be as costly in the future as it is now.. The other issues will take a village (Health Care, Taxes, Soc Sec, etc.).

Some or most of the Huckabee vote is bigotry against Romney and Mormons. Some Fundys aren't familiar with Mormonism and only hear negative comments from anti or ex mormons. So they won't vote for Romney and I won't vote for Huckabee...He raised taxes and He lets illegal aliens in our country like Bush does for cheap labor for whoever will give him money.

anybody who says they'll no longer vote for everybody in accordance to their faith is ignorant. any individual who reads my concepts knows i'm leaving the Mormon church. I have maximum suitable inssues with it. although none of them might want to effect my political evaluations. i love Romney. i appreciate what he's done as a Governor, and that i evaluate he's the effective candidate accessible. And the actual undeniable actuality that he's Mormon has no longer some thing to do with it. I also HATE Harry Reid and he's Mormon. the in basic terms reason faith must have some problem to do with this is if anybody is walking on the platform of starting to be their faith the sturdy faith of the rustic. Romney should not be doing that.

Well, that's your opinion. Personally, I have to give Huckabee some respect. Because he let everyone know where he was coming from as far as religion from the beginning. Unlike Romney, that seems to dance around every question he's asked about religion. Oh yeah, and I'm still waiting for him to give his speech about the Mormon religion. No rush though...I want him to make sure he learns a little about it first...

Its a requirement for my canadate to believe in a higher being..I would vote for a muslim over an athest...The main reason I like Huckabee is because hes scaring the pants of the liberal secularist..lol..
Im going to be totally honest, I HOPE he mixes his faith into politics. The constitution said freedom OF religion not freedom FROM religion..Our basic rights are given to us from God. When there is no God there is no Order..

Jimmy Carter is a very devout man, but I don't see that his faith affected his policies as president to any great degree. Why should I just assume that it would be different with Romney or Huckabee?

People like to judge their candidates by their stances on issues and character... being a former pastor, Huckabee's character is hugely as a result of his faith. Don't you want someone who is transparent and not really hiding anything?
It'd be highly unconstitutional for forbid anyone from running from office based off of their religious beliefs, gender, race, sexual orientation.

I would not vote for Huckabee primarily for his religious beliefs, but that is because he is running primarily on his religious beliefs. He is running as a conservative evangelical and therefore he stresses the importance of God and Jesus in his everyday life, and I do not think that our president should be discussing his religion as often as Huckabee does.
I am Jewish myself and am tired of every Christian thinking that just because most Americans believe in Jesus that we all do. Sometimes they need to learn to keep it to themselves.

I don't have a problem with someone being religious, or what their religion is, but I do have a problem with Huckabee's hypocrisy. He has been campaigning as a conservative Christian, and arguing that that's why people should support him. But when asked yesterday is he believes schools should teach creationism, he refused to answer, saying that his religious beliefs are irrelevant. He can't have it both ways.
