Height from which the elevator falls = h =154 m

speed = v = sq rt 2gh= sq rt 2*9.8*154 = sq rt 3018.4= 54.94 m/s

the elevator will hit the ground with speed 54.94 m/s

time of fall = t = sq rt (2h/g)

t = sq rt (2*154 /9.8) =sq rt 31.4285 = 5.6061 s

The elevator takes 5.6061 s to fall to ground
