There isn't a set age for any firsts. Mine all smiled by three weeks. My daughter has a newborn right now whom just had her pictures done at three weeks and she smiled real big for them. She has been smiling since under two weeks, yes, big real smiles. Some don't until much later and that is normal. My kids all walked at or before nine months with two of them at seven. My oldest daughter's little girl walked at seven months as well. She was walking all around at the aquarium and stunned those who saw her. I thinkk it depends on the individual child and maybe genetics as well. I know the photographer said he hadn't seen one smile so big and so young for quite a while and the relatives are amazed.

Mine was right at 8 weeks old. My mother was playing with him and I guess she just cracked him up because he started laughing and squealing...kind of sounded like a cackle! It was so dang cute!

All three of my girls were around 2 months old. It will be so precious to you when they do it. It tickled me so much we would tickle them just to hear them laugh!

You'll see your little one "smile" in his/her sleep. Some older people say they're smiling at the angels. I think you can look for a real, responsive smile when your baby is from 4-6 weeks old. It's a moment in time!!!
