I want to start guitar lessons and I need a beginner guitar. Anyone have any ideas about which one I should get? Can't be too expensive because it's only a beginner one but I want one that will still be good to play. Anything up to £200 maximum. Thanks

Yamaha are also good, I've got the acoustic version. My teacher told me that it 'hold's' it's tuning well too.

I will give you the same advice I alwas give to beginners. The process of selecting a new guitar for the begginers is not a matter of little importance. The best thing to do is asking for help to a friend who plays well, because a real bad instrument can make you go in wrong directions. First start asking yourself, what kind of music I want to play? There are a number of guitars suited for different music styles. If you are not sure, do not pick a sophisticated one, maybe you can start with a classical style guitar. I dunno cost in your area, but in the U.S. you could order to the following website:

There are a number of cheap brands that can give you a good deal and decent perfomance, without compromising your learning. For example, look at the Takamine G124. At $180 U.S. dollars is a very good deal for beginners. Yamaha also has decent cheap models, both brands with the "japanese" quality assurance, so less likely to find unpleasant surprises. However, ordering a guitar by mail is not my first option.

Take my advice, get a friend who plays to help you choose a guitar and actually go to a musical instrument store where you can see and feel them in real life. I am sure he/she will be delighted to help you, because for a guitar player not many places are more pleasant than a musical instrument store. I could enjoy hours and hours just trying different guitars.
