My midwives said the general rule of thumb is that second births are twice as fast as first births. My first came in 8 hours, so I had this idea that my second labor would last 4 hours. He actually came in just 2, start to finish. It was a much easier than my first, too. If I was to do it again, I would plan a homebirth!

My second was WAY easier than the first.
With my first, my water broke, I got to the hospital at a 3, got an epidural, and dilated for the next 4 hours. I pushed for 2 and then baby was born.
With my second, I came into the hospital at an 8-9. I'd been dilating slowly for a month and a half. I had the baby 1.5 hours after I got to the hospital--only 10 minutes of pushing. It hurt less and my body didn't get torn up, it was AWESOME.

My second birth was MUCH easier than my first. My first I went in after my membranes ruptured, and I was at a 4. I got an epidural and it took another 6 hours to fully dilated, follwed by an hour and 37 minutes of pushing, culminating in a 3rd degree tear.
With #2 I went in after my membranes ruptured, again at a 4. I had no drugs, using the labor tub for pain management instead, was complete with 3 hours, pushed for not even 5 minutes, and had no tearing.

I suppose my second was 'easier' but weirdly the contractions were way more painful. I never paid any attention to dilation during either so have no idea in that regard.
With my first I was in back labor and all up it was 9hrs, my daughter went out and back in like 10 times beforte actually fully arriving. She is 7 today and thinks its hysterical that she was playing peekaboo before even fully entering the world.
With my second no back labor and all in all it was an hour and a half, but the contractions were way way more intense than with #1 maybe because my waters broke naturally early on rather than needing to be popped. But she was a lovely child and just slipped out!! I was nodding off and all of a sudden I felt her head come out, so was scrambling for the buzzer to get the midwifes in to catch her in time.

My first child was induced, it took about 8 hours. My second child was not induced. My water broke and he was born one hour and forty five minutes later. It was definitely easier the second time. I don't remember how long it took to get dilated. I started dilating a few days before and once the waters broke it didn't take long to finish dilating. My first child was born about 2 hours after they broke my water. With the second, I didn't know I was in labor until my water broke.

Didn't take as long to dialate. Was in a great deal more pain than the first. Went into shock from the loss of blood. Nurses were ordered by Doc not to let me have my baby until I was out of danger. But they brought her to me and I fainted and almost hurt us both. My Hubby had a fit and had a rep from admin come down to take a formal complaint and the nurse responsible was let go. The Good thing about it. I had a beautiful little girl on Christmas Day. I was shooting for New Years But hey, a Christmas Baby is every bit as wonderful.

my first delivery I had an epidural, start to finish it was 9 1/2 hrs.
my second delivery I was dialted to 6 before labor even started, I delivered naturally and was in labor for 1 1/2 hrs.
If we have a 3rd I will probably deliver in the car or something, lol!

I don't think it was necessarily easier...just quicker all around. With #2 I started having little tiny cramps by 11:00am....finally thought they were pretty strong by around 4:30pm...went to the hospital...and I was dialated to 8 cm already. I didn't think I was that far along, but I was glad I was. My little girl came a few hours later:)
