I simply cannot match this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas
In short - there already was a celebration at this time for winter sostice. Over time, it became the Christmas celebration.
We, of course, have absolutley no idea what day Jesus was born on.

I think it was the year right before they started the Macy's day parade! You know the one with the St. Nicklaus bringing up the rear! These classic traditions are great aren't they? Maybe it was the year that balloon crashed into a light pole and nearly killed that woman!

As a shamanist - we've been celebrating the 25th since several thousand years before usual histiory commences...i will be the Green Man again this year and appreciate the hung breath of the universe as we move out of darkening into lightening..stiloll - you young cultists can ascribe it to some guy, as wicked as he was, and i will take it in my stride...but christmas and jesus???
mmhmhm - guess he will be there too, seeing as how important it is, but his ONE story? awww man - there is SOOO much more to be celebrated and mourned - trust your heart.

That is the most ignorant answer I've ever seen.
the "(christ)mas"
jeezi. Unless your catholic, maybe. Christ was born in Easter, he was resurrected at the time Christmas is today.
Christmas is a holiday the Catholics came up with maybe in the 1700's (maybe?). They didn't celebrate it like we do today.
