So i was thinkin maybe id try a tampon, but im very scared to do that i know it sounds stupid but i am, iv never used one before, so what do you think, would it be better if i wore a tampon ad how long would i be able to leave it in and do you think i would mind it? sorry for it being so long! Wearing a tampon is no big deal, and I bet once you've used them you'll like them much better than pads.

The best ones that I've found are O.B. They're made by a woman and the way that they expand when the start to fill is much better than others. Some tampons will start to slide out because of the way that they expand and you would not want that especially b/c of the activity you will be doing. They have some with applicators that are not that easy to find and some without. Make sure that you follow the directions in the box, and I would suggest to get the Super Ultra ones since you're only allowed one bathroom break.

Also, you should go explain this to your coach...she should be understanding since she is a female also.

Hope this helps! If you have trouble finding O.B. my second choice would be Playtex Super Unscented...but try to go for the O.B.

Honestly, if you don't feel comfortable with a tampon, then stick with the pad; It's always better to have an overflow with a pad, then having to go to a gynocoligist because something went wrong with your tampon. But if you do decide to use a tampon make sure to remember these rules:
1. When you are putting a tampon in, relax your muscles, it's no big deal, then just slide it in but if your sitting down, push the tampon in towards the wall behind you, because if you push it upwards, you'll hit your vaginal walls, because your vagina is curved because your sitting down, and hitting your vaginal walls isn't very fun because it can cause mild discomfort to discomfort, depending on how hard you push the tampon in.
2. When you put a tampon in, remember the time spand of 4-6 hours, because if you forget and leave it in longer, and your a heavy flower, your subject to TSS. TSS stands for Toxic Shock Syndrome which basically happens when you leave a tampon in for too long, and you start to get blood poisoning because bacteria is starting to grow on the tampon (or something of that nature).
I don't know if you would feel the tampon, it it's your first time, you probably aren't used to the feeling of having it there, so yes, you probably will mind it in the sense that you just aren't used to it. Tampons actually open the world to things that are limited when you use a pad. For example, you can go swimming with a tampon and not a pad right? right! and in my opinion, tampons give you much more freedom, and are much more hygenic because it soaks the blood up before it comes down near the labia majora which is basically the lips of the vagina lips.
Don't worry about it being long, it's actually better that it's longer because it gives us more information to help you solve your problem so I guess I'm done with my answer, although I bet I'm not going to be the best answer because the nurses are better at explaining things, but I learned from personal experience! Hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck,

P.S. The tampon I use for sports that I found really good on absorbing, is Playtex Sport because of the absorbancy for sports! Whoever created Playtex Sport is someone with women in mind! But since it's your first time, I would use Gentle Glide by Playtex because it's nicer for teenagers to use and comfortable to insert.

That is a hard problem because if you wore a tampon you are not going to get much more time out of it than a pad. But, you could double the tampon up with a pad. So you could wear both. I don't think this is the time to expierement with tampons though, save that for when you can use the restroom at will.

I would buy the biggest maxi pads I can find like the long ones with the wings made for night time...and double them up if you have to. Also when you get to practice let your advisor know of the situation, she may be able to help.

As for the fear of Tampons...well, they are a bit daunting but, nothing to really fear. Once you successfully wear them, you will not want to go back to pads.

For one thing, it doesn't sound stupid at all. The first time can be a bit unnerving. Since you say your flows already heavy plus all the activity, in this case it might be best to try a tampon. How long it lasts just depends on the absorbency you get. There's junior, regular, super, super plus, or ultra. Whether you would mind it or not kind of depends on the person. If it's in correctly, you don't feel it at all. If it's uncomfortable, just pull it out and try again with a new one.

Depending on your flow. You should change it every 8 hours. If your flow is strong, then I would recommend using a super, and a pad. That way, once the tampon is filled, you wont get any stains on your knickers. If its your fist time using a tampon, a super size will probably not fit, so go for a regular. It may feel uncomfortable at first, so I recommend trying one out today, and just get used to it. Dont be scared though.
:) I hope this helped

Sure, try a tampon. They will be good for 4 hours or so. Use a pad and a tampon in case of any breakthrough bleeding because that can happen when you are real active. Double protection. Ask your Mom or there are instructions in the box. It really isn't uncomfortable at all. You might even like them better than just pads.

you'll be fine, the box comes with instructions. Its important to relax and for a first timer use the smallest one possible for your flow until you get used to them. Because you are in cheerleading I'd recommned trying playtex sport or gentle glide which is good for teenagers. Once you have inserted a tampon correctly you shouldn't feel it and you should be comfortable. if its uncomfortable you need to try again. You need to practice putting them in. Also always wear a thin pad as a backup(just in case). A tampon can be worn up to 8 hours but its best to change them out every 4. Lastly don't be shy to talk to your mom, your girl friends, school nurse or your regular cheer coach about this. Even if you have a special coach coming in they have to let you use the bathroom. If you need to go and she says no then just walk out of the gym and go anyway. Its actually dangerous to your health to deny you to use the bathroom. good luck

A tampon sounds like the right answer. You can leave one in for up to 6 or 7 hours as long as you don't get one thats too small. You shouldn't mind wearing it because if you put it in correctly you can't feel it. Oh and if i were you, especially since this will be your first time using one, I would wear a pad too, just in case of a leak.

Good luck

The tampon fairy components each and every woman with a container of tampons each and each month. If the girl or woman makes a decision to no longer have a toddler that month, she could without postpone insert a tampon into herself everytime she sees an animal. Animals are the authentic root of pregnancies. while they look in a woman's course and breathe, they deliver out spores which impregnante women directly. without those necessary tampons, she could have dozens of youngsters by way of now. you will greater helpful be sorry...
