yes I usually just break them down a little
like 37 *20 = 740
and 37*7=259
=999
that works pretty well for me

Duh! I should have remembered to break it down, like "gulffan" said, to 27 * 30 & 27 * 7, but I was trying to do it without looking at the other answers first.

Yes, I probably could. I would probably use the distributive property, and I that didn't work, just try to do what i usually do on paper in my head.
