It all depends. Many teens do have common sense. I happen to be one of them. Instead of blaming the schools, turn your attention to laziness, drugs, alcohol and television. Most schools (well mine) are trying their best to teach teens full well knowing that teens are exposed to these things. Just the other day, walking to class, a kid was smoking pot out in the open. Like "Hey its okay to do this ."
Dont blame the school (all the time), blame the libido, parents, teen's friends, idiots, T.V., and anything that teens think is cool and do just to be cool.

Common sense does come with age. It's proven that a child's brain has to develop in this area. And teens are still developing, some faster than others. And yes, I am the anyone else that agrees that schools are not doing a good job in many ways. That is why I home school my kids.

I think this is a common misconception that parents make, and thats that its the responsabilty of the schools. NO there not like they used to be, but it all starts at home. All these Divorces, cheatings, step parents, both parents working situations are causing a lot of problems. Society has ruined the image of what family life is. Adults in this world are not practicing any form of a moral and value system to even give them any sense. People should stop reproducing if they want to live this way.

Actually a teens brain doesn't mature until they're about 22. As to common sense theres not much of that any more. Everyone seems to have an"I want it now" attitude and just doesn't stop to think of the repercussions it can cause. Don't really think its a lack of common sense, it's just that we don't use it.
Merry Christmas

One of the local schools in my area had recent budget cuts that eliminated clubs and sports from the school. This isn't the kids fault, its the community and the schools, so yes.
P.S The next meeting will be held on December 7. If the school doesn't get money soon, band and art will be gone, so the schools better not be surprised if the kids are rebellious and don't wanna learn.

No common sense? Sounds like the parents aren't doing their job. The school's role is to educate kids in terms of academics. Its the parent's role to teach kids manners and common sense - and give their children limits.
But yeah, kids nowadays need to be slapped. Spoiled little brats if you ask me.

I believe the youth of today are more products of their parents not the schools. Too many people have children before they are ready do devote the time necessary to bring them up properly and leave it up to the daycare providers and the school systems to do it for them. They are too materialistic so both parents work so they can have that big SUV and the plasma screen in the great room of their big house
