grrrr...we are already dealing with politicians who redistribute wealth based on "unfair advantages"...I don't like socialism, but honestly, I'd do this just to get rid of all the social program politicians...shut them up...say "look, it's finally fair, now let Americans take care of themselves".

No, poverty originates in the failed thinking of individuals. If someone had 100k, - they'd blow it, - and be back on the dole in 18 months.

There is no such thing as a free market, the term is an oxymoron. Welfare is only supposed to be a temporary aid for those in economic stress. If the U.S. government would start doing what it is supposed to do, protecting the rights of the individual by evenly enforcing a fair set of rules to establish competitive markets, people would have the opportunity to succeed. This is the real problem. Then, those who fail to support themselves wouldn't have any excuse for their failure. Phony free market idealism only succeeds in proving to people that our government would rather put the interests of the rich above everyone else, creating an extremely unfair market system.

I think you're operating under the presumption that the US actually HAS a free-market. If this were true, the US government wouldn't be giving out US tax payers money to Corporations who have profits in the millions and billions per year through Corporate Welfare. In a "free-market" a business fails or succeeds on it's own. It doesn't need to be propped up by the government and it certainly doesn't need to be propped up on the backs of the American tax payers. When and if a business fails, another will pop up to fill the demand for the service left void by the previous business' failure.

No, we would all need welfare because most people at that point would decide not to work, or to work at a minimum wage job that they "like".
As for a return to a free market society - unlikely when you consider that over one half of Americans already get aid from the government in some form. They aren't going to give it up any quicker than a tick will let go of a vein.

You take all of your income and divide it evenly amongst the next 5 street people you find. Let us know how it works out. Most likely they will still be on the street, just more drunk than before.

How exactly would this create a free-market society? Like someone said this is just another form of welfare.

lol wouldn't what you're describing be socialism? When you speak of a return to a free-market society, you are under the wrong impression that we have had that in the past. A free-market system never works, it ends up being nothing more than feudalism.

Like a fresh start? the Germans did that once....after World War 2. I really don't think that America is near as bad off as post Hitler Germany was. I don't think it's time to throw in the towel. People do alot more complaining in this country than can actually be backed up....

According to Wikepedia.
_______________
The median income per household member (including all working and non-working members above the age of 14) in the year 2006 was $26,036
_______________

What are you going to do with 26,036 this year that you could not due with your income last year.

I make much more money than that---and If I only made that I would lose my house. But if it meant I would never have to pay for somebody else to sit on his *** and collect my tax dollars--After the Government takes their processing fee--I MIGHT AGREE WITH YOU!

That would be perfect communism not socialism, and your hypothetical has never been tried in any large society.

Wait till you or a close friend starts to feel the economic squeeze. You will be thankful we have a partial welfare state in America.

Your question is not messed up, I hear you loud and clear.

Yeah, you could call us Russia. Also, I would quit working because why would I have to? I would get just as much money if I worked my rear off than of I sat on it all day. If you would like to discuss this we could next year as we stand in line all day to get our daily rations of food. You should look up socialism, as that is exactly what you are describing. Also look up free market society to get some insight as to what that is too.

Good luck

I dont know...personally I think the federal debt is a farce

if there was no debt, we wouldn't feel compelled to pay taxes, right?

I think that we have the money and the resources to have standardized healthcare and other national benefits, like Canada and France do...but the insurance companies and the drug companies make way too much money for that to happen
