The windows on the BMW 5 have a sensor which makes sure that you cannot get trapped when the window goes up. The light on the dash signifies that this sensor is not working as it should. If you have kids in your car it is important to get it fixed.

If you have a BMW 5 series didn't it come with an owner's manual in English? Most manuals cover every feature. Try reading it. If all else fails, contact your nearest BMW dealer.

It comes on when the trap door or the side doors are not completely latching upon closure - so they could fly open during travel and the car is not secure when left. Try closing them all again.

when you open your car door, a light comes on inside the vehicle, to help you see at night time.

the switch is on the pillar of the door frame and the door physically switches the switch on and off by being open or closed
