Could model railroading become the next great national(or international) past time?

I think it would be wonderful, but you aren't going to pry that many people away from their video games, computer moniters, and big-screen plasma tvs. People are too addicted to their technology.
Model railroading requires a passion and dedication not many people possess. To do it right, it requires time, money and space. Most people are already suffering from a lack in one or more of these areas!
Unless you can create a cyber version, or video game version, I think it's seen it's heyday, and it's up to you rare dedicated individuals to keep it alive. Good luck!

it would be nice for people to put aside their video games, computers, tv's, etc, and sit down with a model railroad, or any model for that matter... .but I doubt that will happen. People have become lazy and infatuated with technology. Unless someone comes out with some killer software to design models, I doubt model railroading will be the next big thing. :(
The world would probably be better if more people did do models and pastimes from... well the past!

No. Not many people have the skill, patience, or dedication to make model anything become the next great past time.
