I put my hand over my heart and take off my hat.

Why? Because I honor and respect what the flag symbolizes. My military service gave me a great reverence for what the flag symbolizes.

As a matter of respect and diplomacy, I also stand and remove my hat when other nations' anthems are played. Disrespect is not an honorable action.

I stand, take off my hat, and sometimes I put my hand on my heart and sometimes I don't. I don't know why, I think it has something to do with whether the rest of the crowd is doing it. Hand on the heart is optional as is strict obedience to the "flag code" unless you are in the military.

Yes, I stand up and place my hand over my heart. I look around the crowd and see VERY few other Americans do it. I'm also hoping some one will see my raised hand and then do the same.

I don''t put my hand over my heart because I get lazy, but occasionally, if there is a veteran present or its September 11th, then I will.

i stopped that crap when i came back from rvn in 69. if serving 8 years in the army and dropping out of college for a false war didn't do it, then watching two draft dodgers send more kids off to die to stroke their egos definitely has. god bless our veterans. may god punish our leaders for allowing this to happen.
