Armenian Genocide is a historical fact. Countries not having strategic relations with Turkey, recognize it.
Recognition of Armenian Genocide is recognition of history and roots of racism.
As an Armenian, whose nation has been a victim of inhumanity, racism and religious hate, I am very sorry to see our world in 21st century facing similar violences (in Darfur, for example).
This is the point we should see the past, look at that events, study the roots and try to prevent them in future.
Why recognition? Ask what is the use for recognition of something happened near a century ago?
Now, after near a century after the Armenian Genocide, Armenians cannot trust Turks, because the crime remains uncondemned and unrecognized by Ottoman empire's successor, Turkey. This is a security problem for Armenia, because not condemning the genocide, gives no guarantee that such a thing won't happen again.
Take the Holocaust and denial of that by the Iranian president, Ahmadinejad. The Jewish feel insecure when such a horrible crime is denied and called "a big lie".
Recognition of a crime is the first element to convince it won't happen again.
Besides, by the genocide, the whole Western Armenia was exterminated. It's both our right and responsibility to inform the world about the exterminated country and 1.5 million innocent victims of inhumanity, racism and barbarism.
And US doesn't want to recognize it, not because they say it didn't happen. But they say it isn't time for us.
US has strategic alliance with Turkey, its the only reason.
Armenians Genocide is fact and no one except Turkey doubts it. The point is just to officially recognize it, or not.
And this is politics and $$$, you know...

No i don't believe it.
Why? Because you people play 3 monkeys about Turkish people's pain and sorrow.
Do you know anything about Ermeni Zulmü / Armenian Cruelty.
Did you visit Genocide Museum and Monument in Iğdır?
Here an Ottoman Officer in Erzurum writes about Armenian Cruelty:
- They tricked the males to come with them, they said they will give them jobs and money.
- They filled people into the houses and burned them down.
- They nailled a 12 years old girl from her ears to a mosque wall.
- They hanged one women and three children from a shop window.
- They nailled three males, four women and one boy from their hands to a shop wall.
- They cooked two people and sold these food to Turks.
- They burned 450 people in Ahmed Efendi's house.
- They killed 1373 people in Hacı Ahmet Han.
- There weren't any males in Alaca, Stavuk, Dinarkom, Müdirge and Arzuti villages.
570 people died in Kars, 2000-2500 people died in Van you can visit Van Museum's Massacre Section to see their bones.
1986 May-July, 3 mass graves in Alaca village 278 bodies found.
1988 October 7, another mass grave in Erzurum 100 bodies found. You can visit Erzurum Museum Massacre Section to see their bones.
1991 June 20, mass grave in Kars 570 bodies found.
1990 April 4, mass grave in Van.
1986 March 1, mass grave in Oba village 90 bodies found.
1999 October 6, mass grave in Iğdır - Hakmehmet 80 bodies found.
So tell me why i should recognize Armenian genocide?

Don't be "for" acknowledging the genocide. Oh, it happened, absolutely. The problem is, that the Turks in Turkey are not the people that committed the genocide. If your girlfriend had a rotton last boyfriend, should you be blamed because you are the boyfriend now? The Ottoman Empire was responsible for the genocide. They are all long dead. (3 generations ago) This is a propoganda campaign intended to weaken our position in the Middle East by putting us at odds with one of our strongest allies. And YOU are helping by believing this trash. How does it feel to be the bad guy? Should YOU apologize to the current government of Turkey for Libel?

Politically it's not a good time to even talk about this.
But I think a lot of people privately acknowledge the genocide.

Well it's like the big elephant in the room. Everyone does know it happened and yes there is DOCUMENTED PROOF. But it's a political thing. Turkey helps us with things, and so do some other countries that don't acknowledge it (Turkey being the main one of course though) And we don't want to upset the governments of these countries that gives us aid....sucks I know.
You should look at the System of A Down documentary on the topic...they are all Armenian and it's an awesome documentary.

Armenian Genocide is a historical fact and any educated person knows about it.
22 governments have officially accepted it as the first genocide of the 20 century. 40 states in the USA have officially categorized it as a genocide. it is not important for bush to accept it as a genocide or a massacre, but for the world records, recognition, and consequences so. Like it did in 1915 will NEVER happen AGAIN.

We are all aware of the fact of it.
Currently, the US is in a delicate diplomatic situation with Turkey. We depend on Turkey for military supply lines. Therefore, smart diplomats will make compromises to ensure we do not come into conflict with a nation that we depend upon.
Unwise Democrat political leaders are attempting to provoke Turkey. Why? They attempted to defeat our military in Iraq by de-funding the war effort. When that failed, they sought other ways to undermine our efforts, including their effort to antagonize Turkey with the genocide issue.
Democrats had the 1990s to take that step when their President was in power. Funny how they decided to wait until now.
