I know 4 African American guys are charged with Taylor's murder, but the fact remains: these young men were disenfranchised souls in a system in which they couldn't win due to white racism. What can we do as a society to prevent this from happening?

Sure..blame the murder of a black man by 4 black men on ol' whitey..maybe you should go on the street and shout to the crowd that a white man....any white man ought to be lynched for keeping those fine upstanding ***** youths down and causing them to rob and kill a rich black man.
Will that help your soul full of guilt? Maybe you can hang two..the other can be blamed for global warming while you're at it.

So just because a few white people are racist it means that all black males are 'disenfranchised souls' that should be let off the crimes they commit? How about black people that kill other blacks? Are they still 'disenfranchised' due to white racism or was it because of black racism? Racism is bad no matter what angle it's played from. I've been a victim of racisim and I'm white. You can't blame others for your choices in life. At a point you have to take responsiblity for your own actions. If you kill someone, you deserve your punishment.

These 4 were pure and simple criminals... after reviewing a couple of MySpace photos from some of the accused I don't beleive they were disenfranchised at all. They looked to enjoy the "thug" lifestyle and the money it provided. Some people are just bad people and no amount of attempting to rationalize their actions or blame it on something else will help.
Maybe another hypothesis would be that they grew up in single parent homes without a father.
or yet another... maybe someone bullied them in grade school
or yet another... maybe they weren't breast fed as infants
or...
maybe they are just bad people who enjoyed their criminal lifestyle until it got the better of them and killed an innocent man in the process. By the looks of the one guy on his MySpace photo he had enough money to put at least himself through college for 2 years.
Just my thoughts.

Holding these killers blameless for their crime because of white racism is an insult to all the minorities who educate themselves, become successful and lead civilized productive lives.
What can we as a society do to prevent this? Make them stay in school, get an education, and hold them accountable for their bad choices. The same as we do for white children.

these so called "disenfranchised souls" need to stop blaming everyone else, pull up their damn pants, committing crimes as such, and take back the neighborhood for something good for a change

Please. At least one of these thugs was a guest at Taylor's house.... They cased the joint and broke in. Then later came back to rip Taylor off again. Unfortunately, Taylor was home at the time. No racisim here just very poor choices which ended in Taylor's death. They wanted what Taylor had - it has nothing to due with the color of the skin.

It's about 4 young punks who decided to take the wrong path in life and instead of making something of themselves -- decided to do harm to others (and not an isolated case of doing so)

Increase the size of the welfare checks. We are not supporting the lazy class as much as we could. The baby factories need more money to produce more criminals. And the lazy class is made up of many races, for those who wonder.
