I am 32 weeks and my baby is still breech. I know there is plenty of time for her to still move, but my question is about an external version. Has anyone had one? Was it painful? And most importanly, did it work?

I didn't have a breech, but my son turned from facing forward to facing my back (the best position) during labor as I did pelvic tilts. I did yoga cat/cow curls, though that terminology may not mean much if you aren't into yoga! Basically, you get on all fours and slowly alternate arching your back up and then straightening out again. You just have to make sure your back doesn't actually sag in order to avoid undo strain. This helps for back pain in late pregnancy and birth, as well.

I work as a labor and delivery nurse, and I have seen it once, and it didn't work, and the doctors let her get a epidural so all she felt was the pressure. My sister in law had a external version and it did work she was able to deliver vaginally, but she say she would not have it done again that it hurt a lot and she would just have a c/section. I really think that the baby has to be in a certain position for it to work and your Doctor really has to know what he is doing. It is a risky procedures, and a big decision. Hopefully he or she will turn on there own stay positive and good luck.

I heard that it has risks, because someone is pushing the baby into position. At 32 weeks, my baby was transverse. I used the breech tilt to get her to move herself. It is much safer. They say it works 75% of the time. It worked for me. What you do is lay on your back with your pelvis higher than your head. Lie like this for 20 minutes at a time twice a day. It gets the baby to turn herself.

I would never do it. In Europe it is not used anymore, doctors stopped doing that 10 years ago, because the baby might have a umbilical cord wrapped around his neck or something else and that is the reason why he is breech. If they try to move him, it might be really, really dangerous.

my baby was breech since i was 20 weeks along. My high risk specialist said that there was enough time for the baby to move. Never happened.... at 38 weeks they decided to deliver her by c-section.

She could still move- I wouldnt worry unless your doctor does. I have heard that moving them externally can be dangerous- to the baby... Make sure your doctor okays it and the person manuvering the baby knows what they are doing!
