With all of Cheney's health issues, he could very well kick the bucket soon. What a happy day that will be, but who the VP be for the rest of the term know that a democrat led senate would have accept and vote it the nominee.

He is required to nominate a VP by the 25th Amendment, and doesn't have the option to leave the office vacant. The wise course of action would be to nominate an easily-confirmed political hack who would be a nonentity in the 2008 race.

Cabinet? No way, no how. None of them. If you bring in any Cabinet members, it'll turn into an Iraq inquisition with plenty of grandstanding.

The Senate's Republican caucus will have a hard enough time keeping its seats, so it wouldn't be a senator who has 2 or more years remaining on his/her term.

The House probably has a senior member who is sufficiently old and obscure that they could safely shuffle him into a lame duck vice presidency without concern. Not any of the leadership team.

There's a former governor of Florida who is eligible for the gig, too, and who Bush would trust. Jeb Bush is pretty much unelectable in his own right, given the nation's Bush fatigue. It might fly, but I think you'd best look to current House members or former Senators.

Condi would be the logical choice but she is more useful as the Secretary of State. I take great offense to your death wish for the VP but I expect little more from you based on the wonderful examples of tolerance from the left we have become so use to.

Hmmmm...........Ken Lay is dead, so that's not an option.
Ann Coulter probably couldn't take the pay cut.
Same for Dennis Miller.
I would say the same for Bill O'Rielly, but his ego is large enough that he might be willing to take the pay cut just to be able to meet with his hero every day.

Someone who Bush would like to make even more billions for, no doubt. Probably his best pal, Scooter Libby.

He doesn't have to have a VP, the office can be vacant. It has been vacant before.
