I say tax the rich 99% and tax the poor 0%. The gap between the have and the have not's has nothing to do with hard work. It has everything to do with family ties and underhanded business.

There already exists a form of wealth distribution. Only this comes in the form of corporate raiding of government coffers. Our (s)elected leaders are essentially taking from the poor and working classes and giving to the rich, wealthy elite in the form of unnecessary tax breaks and corporate welfare/bailouts.

I'm all for equality but I do think that is somewhat unfair. It's unfair for those people who weren't born with a silver spoon in their mouths but actually had to work their way to the top in order to reach the success that they have achieved. Yes they are a few who got lucky because they were born into families of old money but not everyone is.
I think the poor people just need to be given a foundation so that they can start to be able better their lives and maybe someday also achieve such success.

What you are basically saying is that the rich people should pay for the poor people???? Would you be happy giving basically all of your hard earned cash to somebody who will in the end be much better off than you are because you are practically giving them all of your money???!! Think about it, no one will benefit in the end because the rich people will become poor and then when that happens, who will be paying tax because then you will have a whole nation of poor people and literally no economy??!! And where do you think all those community projects are getting their funding from, certainly not the government, it's from the rich individuals who are generous enough and actually care about the communtty!!

You cannot point fingers at the rich people, it's not their fault they are rich?? If you think there is a problem don't just attack the rich people go for the government because they are the ones who can actually do something about it.

The gap between the rich and the poor is increasing because people are just sitting complaining about it, and what are they actually doing? S**T all!!!

Everyone needs to work together if they are really serious about bridging the growing gap between the rich and the poor. And one more thing, what are you as an individual doing to make a difference in these less fortunate communities??

Pink,

It sounds a bit Socialistic to me.

It is past high time we did some fair and critical investigation, of organizations and associated politicians associated with them who have profited at the expense of the US Tax Payer.

The investigation should not be performed by our government which, if it has proven anything in the last seven years it, has proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that it is completely untrustworthy.

I fear that our country has been so damaged by incompetent, greed driven politicians that concerted efforts by a multitude of people will be required to even judge whether we can recover and what will be required to bring America back to the country the Republican Party took control of after Regan was “elected”.

A through, competent investigation is required for us to even know much of the damage we suspect is real and how much damage we don't know about is real. The problem is than in history, when a population discovers the depth of corruption to which a group of politicians has sunk, a breakdown in civil order normally results and a peaceful transition to more competent individuals is squandered in the resulting anarchy.

It was H.L. Mencken who pined,

“ When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying the cross”

Umm, well, don't look for it happening any time soon. There will have to be a revolution and that will only come after something REALLY bad happens (losing your civil liberties, loss of a living wage, rigged elections aren't enough to bestir people from their couches).

A good start would be an end to corporate welfare.

The disparity is out of control. Greed and arrogance are at the heart of it. We need to tax the rich more. They can pay more. I know quite a few that just throw money away, buy things just to have, just because. It makes me ill. I feel very lucky but I'm struggling. It's hard to do it on your own. There are so many obstacles. It's affecting my health. I know that I'm not alone. The people must rise and fight back! It is the only way.

So anybody who has anything got it by cheating or inheriting it from Daddy.....

It must suck to be you. America is the land of opportunity. This is the place where you can start with nothing and get rich. In your little world, you start with nothing and have no possibility of having anything because as soon as you earn something, it is taken by one of the "less fortunate."

I grew up in poverty but my parents instill me with good values. I borrowed money, went to college, got a degree, and made a comfortable life for myself. That makes me one of the "rich" who you seem to despise.

I earned everything I have. If you want a better life, get off your lazy butt and work for it. I have no time for your sort.

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm tired of paying most of my income to taxes. Good luck. 2D
