Why should it be illegal to sell something that's legal to give away? I can't follow the logic.

Yes, and you owe George Carlin some money for stealing his joke.

I agree with the premise, however.

It's legal because prostitutes begin in the profession as an easy way to make money. Then they just can't stop because they get "owned" by the money or the pimps. Think about it. The majority of prostitutes don't really even like sex they just do it for the money. Most prostitutes don't even kiss because it's too personal. There is a difference in having sex for money and doing it for pleasure. If it's something your doing with someone you like or even love it's more fun then with someone that pays you that, honestly if you've seen the johns come on! If a guy can't get sex for free in this day and age there's a reason, if he's that desperate (no offense). Also being a prostitute on the streets is a lot more dangerous then if they are in a brothel, there's no protection, a women/man gets into a vehicle with a complete stranger, who knows what happens after wards, it could be a simple sex and that's it or she/he could get some kind of STD or the person could get raped and killed. They make easy targets. Also the majority of prostitutes start out at young ages, I'm taking 14 and under, in most states that's not even legal to give away. Also, what about the sex slave trade? It still exists and in America too!

Health concerns . Just like speeding is illegal. We all drive, our cars can all go above 70, but because of concerns over public safety, we are not allowed to do so.

As a side note, personally I think prostitution should be legal and no speed limits on expressways. City streets, yeah, but not on limited access roads.

Just to clarify prostitution is not legal in Las Vegas.

it is legal in most of the Counties of Nevada, under tightly regulated circumstances (i.e no "street girls"), but Clark County, including las Vegas, is specifically excluded.

it is legal...in Las Vegas.

Also, you can legally pay two people to have sex with each other, and then you can film it legally...and then you can sell the video legally. The law only prevents one person from paying another person to have sex with them... except Las Vegas as stated previously.

Prostitution is a victimless crime.

Without answering the question, it is not always legal to give it away, there are anti-fornication and other sex related laws on the books in many areas that define who, when, where and how you have sex.

It's probably a morality thing. Our country's morality is deteriorating and eventually it will be legal. Actually it is legal in some places.
