Are there any "wives tales" that you've found to be true in finding out if you're having a girl or a boy?
I had really bad morning sickness and some people say that means a girl.
My boyfriend is also gaining weight with me, heard that was a boy?
The list goes on and on, but some of them sound so ridiculous. Ridiculous and interesting! Just curious

a lot of times you'll get worse morning sickness with girls, and gain more weight. you'll also look pregnant from the back. with a boy a lot of times, the belly will be straight out front, like you swallowed a basketball...and you'll carry it in your back and have more back pain. no guarentees with anything though. i had a feeling i was having a boy the moment i found out, and i was right! mothers instinct i guess. congratulations on the pregnacy!

Such as you, I was once past convinced we have been having a further girl (we now have 2 boys after which a woman now). All of the historic wive's stories said so too. Only one or two ever prompt a boy. I was once mistaken. We're having an additional boy and that i was stunned when the ultrasound tech informed me of the very fact. I used to be so definite. However I've also been flawed all four instances! You would believe odds can be in my desire of being correct as a minimum as soon as, however no. So for me, neither my own intuition or the historic wive's memories were right. BTW, i'm excited to be having a further boy now that I've adjusted my pondering. Congrats on the little lady in July! And excellent success!

well im 26 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. I had no morning sickness until I was around 14 weeks(thats one that says boy). I have gained 7 pounds so far which so many people have told me can mean boy. Im carrying my tiny bump so low and that also is an old wives tale that means boy =] so i guess a few of them have been true for me! also the chinese calendar thing said i was going to have a boy =] We have had three ultrasounds and they have all said BOY! good luck

I have a 2 1/2 year old son and am pregnant w/ another boy (the ultrasound tech said, "100% boy"). I had no morning sickness what-so-ever the 1st time but horrible morning sickness this time. My husband didn't gain a pound the 1st time but has put on a few this time (but, then again, he recently got out of the military--- no more PT).
The only one I've seen some truth in for me, personally, is I don't have a basketball tummy this time or last... I'm just wider & bigger all over.

I don't read much into the old wives' tales. Supposedly if the baby's heart rate is over 140, it's a girl and below 140 is a boy. This happens to be true in my case -- my baby's heart rate is always around 160 and we're having a girl.

However, I never had one day of morning sickness -- and I'm having a girl (you said morning sickness means girl).

People keep saying since I am carrying high still it will be a boy, they also say that since my face is glowing it will be a boy. The doctor said it will be a girl. I will find out next week, but there are so many of those old wives tales that arent scientifically proven, that its better to just let the doctor tell you what it will be, then hope they are right!!

I had AWFUL morning sickness, lost around 20 pounds.
I'm having a boy.

They also say if the heart beat is above 141 it is a girl. Our guy's was at 151 at the last appointment.

My husband really hasn't gained any weight. And yes, it's a boy.

So I guess I haven't really found any to be true for me. They are fun though when you do not know what you're having. Congratulations on your baby!

My mom (who is the mother of 3 girls and 5 boys from the same dad) has a saying:

"When you've had 2 kids, you know everything. When you've had 8, you know you know nothing..."

Even when all other factors are the same, it can be different every time and it'll be absolutely no indication whether it's a boy or a girl.
So, sorry I can't help you find out early if it's a boy or a girl, but congrats on the baby either way!

All of the old wives tales have a 50/50 chance of being right, so I wouldn't put much stock in them. I will say though, that my son had a low heart rate and my daughter had a high heart rate, so that one was accurate for me. I didn't have morning sickness with either one.

I don't know how much I believe this one but if you take a strand of your hair, tie it around one of your rings, and hold it above your belly button: SUPPOSEDLY if it swings in a line (either way) it's a boy. If it swings in a circle it's a girl. Someone I knew tried it and it went in a circle and coincidently she had a girl. The fault with this one is that your hand naturally shakes and that will make the ring move when your supposed to be perfectly still so it moves "on it's own". Who knows if its true.
