Sounds almost exactly like ADD. I have it too, and it can be very frustrating, because it feels like no matter how hard you try to pay attention, you just arn't remembering anything people tell you. Being bad at math probably could just be attributed to not being able to pay attention in class, that is how it is for me. In many other classes it isn't as essential to remember everything the teachers says, but there are many steps and details you miss when you arn't concentrating on the teacher. I'm seventeen, and I just got diagnosed this last summer, but now I am taking Adderal (like ritalin), and school is so much easier for me. I'd recomend at least figuring out what the problem is, and then decide what you want to do. You wouldn't neccisarally have to take medication. I hope this was helpful!

attention problem is more likely than a short term memory problem. try changing your diet, getting some exercise and doing some memory exercises (even if it's just trying to recall your day in the afternoon while in the shower or whatever).

If that doesn't help try ginko and other memory supplements

If that doesn't work see your doctor and get tested for ADD
