What should I do with my life , Serious Answers Please?

I'm at a stand still , I don't know which way to go or where I should be how does one find out there destiny there purpose , once there children are just about grown one Graduated and the other one just turned 18 and is graduating in June , and I never even finished H.S

Foxy, at 39, my marriage ended, and I was in pretty much the same place you are now. My kids were still little (I started late) and the career I had before -- I was a dancer -- was hardly available at that age...not to mention I gained a lot of weight in the 12 years between. I moved back to my hometown, got a real estate license, then paid for college with the money I earned selling real estate. I did all the volunteer stuff for the kids' schools...graduated from college and got a job. I took care of my mom when she was sick, and now I live with my dad. He's healthy but almost 80 and his memory hit the road. It's twenty years later, now, and I finally know who I am.

First thing...GED. That will do a lot for your (pardon the cliche) "self-image".

Think about what you need. Do you need to earn money? Do you need a more fulfilling job? Is there a job that will make you feel satisfied, or do you need something else -- music, art, dancing, volunteering...what matters to you?

This is a great time to try new things. Take some courses or pick up something you used to love but gave up when the kids were little. Are you married or in a relationship? If not, do you want one?

My kids are grown and out of the house, but my dad needs me and I'm glad to be able to help him out.

Buy the book "what color is your parachute?" It's available almost anywhere; it will tell you what sorts of things you might like. Also, do finish high school. You'll feel good knowing that you did it. After that, maybe take some community college classes when you can, at night or something. Talk to a career counselor at the college about what you could do. Plenty of people make career changes in mid life and have a lot of fun. You could be anything. And community college classes are probably very affordable, especially if you only take a few at a time. Other than that, think about what you really enjoy and get some hobbies. It takes a while to get a routine, but you can do it. If you enjoy young people, become a substitute teacher at school (you don't need a degree for that). If you like crafts, start making things. If you like reading, join a book club. If you want to get in shape, join a gym. If you don't have much money, you could bird-watch, or write, or if you do have money travel. Think of what might make you happy and try as many things out as you need to until something fits. :)

Have you an intrest??? I love cosmology and so when my life allowed me spare time took a course which I found great fun.

Maybe get a job...not for cash for something to do ( if you life allows ) join a club, travel....

There are many options you have done your bit by putting your life on hold...time to be selfish and look after number 1

many of us face the same question, and many dont find the answer until we get really old LOL

dont stress yourself with the question too much, just do what you do right now, and leave your options open, check out other jobs,, who knows, maybe one ofthese days you bump into a job offer that's everything you've ever wanted =)
