It depends where he is, how often it is and why. If he is at home, and trustworthy, then yes. That has happened to me quite often considering I grew up with divorced parents. But no matter how much he say's he does not get lonely, he does. You should call him once while you are not there. After a few days of being alone for so long, they will miss you. No matter what age. Also, if you call them you can find out what they are doing. To just keep an eye on them. You could also alert neighbors when you will be out for that long just incase anything seems to be sketchy going on. This will also give the boy some time to grow up and become independant.
But it is not suitable if you are just going out for the sake of going out everynight.
Sorry this was long.

11 is too late in my opinion for a 14 year old, perhaps at 16 but not before. At 14 they'd be allowed out until 10 at the latest, only on weekend nights and never out in the streets.

yes - maybe phone home every now and again- but when i was 14 and even 13 or 12 my parents stayed out that late and left me alone - though i did have an older brother
if the 14 year old is responsible then there should be no problem

Yes, when I was 14 (I'm 15 and 1 week!!) I was trusted at home by myself if my parents were gone out or if my brother had a match etc. I was sometimes alone with my bro (16 mnths older than me) till 2am, my parents would call every hour and my neighbour would call in at around 10/11. If he is mature then yeah!

Absolutely not. 14 yr olds are at their prime to explore and experience new things. They are easily influenced by friends, or what appears to be friends and can get into a LOT of mischievous. When adult supervision or guidance is missing, the case usually ends up with drugs or juvenile court. Sorry to say, but these are pretty much facts.

I assume you mean home alone until 11pm. If the 14 yr old is trustworth and isn't prone to getting into trouble it should work fine.
There should be set rules as to what he can and can not do.

No, maybe for a special occasion like a late movie or a concert. But not every night. 9 pm on weeknights and 10 on the weekends is fine.

At home?
Sure.
Out?
Probably not a good idea.
If you don't have a car on your own, you don't have a ride home on your own or a safe way to travel in general on your own.
The younger you are, the more vulnerable you look to people who may want to cause harm.
At LEAST be out with a group of friends. People are safer in numbers.
But, again, at home? Yeah I don't think it's a bad idea.
It's a familiar environment and if you trust him enough then he should be fine.

No. That is still a little young to be wandering the streets by yourself. Maybe it's ok until about 8:30 if you are with friends. Young people are often preyed upon, especially when they are alone at night.

it's a little late, but if the parents are working sometimes it's the better option than no dinner.
if the parents are going out to have fun a few nights a week and staying out till 11 i don't think that's fair. if it's once a week that's fine.
