In general do you trust what politicians at election time say, regardless to your party devotion?

I also do not trust politicians at election time and feel the gist of the general public feels the same although this question was based more on individual opinions I feel most all answers are correct in their opinion so I’m putting this question up for vote. Thanks to all that answered. I had a lot of fun reading the replies.

No, but there is a reason why.
We (the public) insist that the candidates tell us what they would do if elected.
They then tell us what they would do because we will not vote for them unless they do so.
However, one person cannot make a law--even the president. It takes many others cooperating together to approve a law and get it through the process.
So, we (the public) actually encourage this type of lying (or exaggeration) by demanding it.
Don't blame the politicians. They're just doing what we require them to do.
We know it is false, they know it is false, all God's children know it's false.
And then we will complain that whoever was elected didn't do what he/she said. Are we all nuts or what?!
Instead of "political" campaigns maybe we should call then "psychotic" campaigns.
They lie, we know they're lying, and we elect the most convincing liar.
And so it goes . . .

In idea, we are think to believe politicians because they are think to be our representatives (this is proper everywhere contained in the international). In practice, although, the final public of politicians in basic terms care about their personal wealth and look at issues in words of self-pastime. The politicians who were given into politics with the aid of desirous to help the everybody is frequently this style of minority that they don't somewhat have a effective voice on decision-making. So for now, i do not think maximum politicians. even although I plan to change right into a political candidate myself contained in the destiny.

There are some honest hard working politicians out there yes, they are few and far between though. But yes there are some who are dedicated honest hardworking and patriotic public servants. I am sure a lot more start their careers with those qualities unfortunately true power corrupts! And the total lack of term limits imposed upon career "politicians" doesnt help anything either.

Yes and No. Because you have to remember, Politicians can only get things done if they have the votes to do it. So they can say one thing, but when it comes time to actually fulfill that promise, they may not be able to, or they may have to deal with other politicans in order to get the bill passed. So I think it's actually a two way street.

The only thing I trust politicians to do is say anything to get elected.

No I don't. Even though I don't follow the elections as close as I should I don't know who I am going to vote for next year.

Politicians are salesmen and women. They are buying their time to stay in their seats. You come in to vote on who can negociate better during the debates, the ads, etc. during election year.

The one I don't trust is Mitt Romney . He isn't able to tell the truth about most of anything. He's down on his faith right now and can't and won't explain nothing. He won't tell the american people that LDS don't beleive their should be single parents and if we don't beleive like them we are going to you how where.

No, they are all twisted and evil no matter what party they represent. In politics it all boils down to one important thing to them....1. Money 2. Money 3. Money....
