The quick way to name acids
Step 1, Ignore the first hydrogen(s)
Step 2, Write down the name of what you have left
Step 3, If what you have is an element from the periodic table put the letters "hydro" in front of it and remove the "ine" from the end of the word and replace it with "ic acid" If you do not have an element move on to step four
Step 4, Look at the last three letters of the word, if they are "ate" remove them and replace with "ic acid" if they are "ite" remove them and replace with "ous acid"

You start out naming the chain, and then figuring where the substituents are. So you have a three carbon hydrocarbon. But you threw in a double bond, so you have an alkene. So when you name an alkene, you need the double bond have the lowest possible number. So the parent is prop-1-ene. Now, where is the chlorine atom? It is on carbon #3. So it becomes 3-Chloro-prop-1-ene, and can also be named 3-Chloro-1-propene. Now, if there was no double bond, it is an alkane, and it would be Chloropropane. You would not write 1-Chloropropane, since there is need to use the number. But take this compound: CH3CH(Cl)CH3 It would be 2-Chloropropane, since the chlorine is on the second carbon atom.
