ok I'm just curious as to where the best military bases are? I just enlisted in the Army and I'm looking for some advice from individuals that have been where I am now. I currentlly live in Ga, i dont have any children and I'm just looking for a nice place to start a life, where would you say is the best? The Army has bases in the following states:

AL,AK,AZ,AR,CA,CO,DC,FL,

GA,

HI,IL,KS,KY,LA,MD,MA,MO,

NJ,NY,NC,OK,PA,Puerto Rico,

SC,TX,UT,VA & WI.

The Army has bases in the following places overseas: Belgium, Germany, Italy,Japan, Korea, Netherlands and South Korea.

Since i must put down 3 places in the States and 3 places Overseas what would you put down as 3 in the US and 3 overseas? and why?

Thanks for the help

Well stateside bases I'd go with South Carolina,Virginia and Kentucky.
As for the overseas bases check out Germany,Belgium, and the Neatherlands.
I was Air Force and made pretty much the same choices.
The bases in Florida and Georgia are OK also.

They call it a "Dream Sheet" for a reason....... you can put your preferences down but you may or may not get any of them. Most likely you wont.

What was your enlistment as? MOS? Do you have an Airborne option?

If you go Airborne your choices are pretty much limited to NC, Kentucky, Alaska, Italy

Otherwise, do some research and pick somewhere. Do you like hot weather or cold? For example... if you hate snow, pick somewhere southern... You want to be within driving distance from beaches or mountains? You want a town with National Exemplary schools, or the school district doesnt matter since you dont have kids? Do you like more of a small town feel, or the city life?
Is there family or friends that you would like to be close to?
Ask yourself these questions, research, make a decision... where you live is so preferencial no one can really give you advice... just opinions.
For example... my dream sheet...;)
1. HI
2. NC
3. TX
1. Italy
2. Germany
3. Japan
But thats just me....

Once you know the states or general areas you would like, research the actual Post... housing, ammenities etc. But really, I wouldnt spend a whole lot of time on it.... its just your wish list!!!

Is Fort Lewis Washington on the list? If so, go for that one. I served there back in the day. The Pacific Northwest is a great place to live and explore. If you like the outdoors this is the place!

For overseas assignments, go for Germany or other European country. I served in S Korea. While it was an eye opening experience to live in a third world country I would rather have spent my time in Germany.

Good luck to you.

Well, unusual for you to have a choice.
1st of course comes basic training. Then depending on your career field they will decide what schools you will attend. Doubt you will actually have much input.

Just make the best of your new environment. And getting to know your fellow comrades in arms
Thank you for serving our/your country!!!!
