Our local drug store has a "Sack it for Santa" thing they do. You buy a gift sack for a dollar (11x8) and fill it up with things for an area teen for Xmas. They say the teenagers get overlooked at the holidays and this is how they try to help.
question is, what would be the best things to fill the sack with? I want a good one that they would really like. If they don't get anything else for Christmas then maybe this can make things a little brighter for them, make things easier for a parent who can't afford anything right now.
I thought about getting some fun stuff and some functional stuff. A cute T-shirt or hoodie, some lotions(pretty ones), makeup, those types of things. I want the funtional stuff to be fun too so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
If you were an metro teenager and you were not able to have a good christmas (one with no basics, not " I didn't get the new playstation " ungreatfulness), what are some things you might like to see? Things you need?

Okay..let me clarify..i want it to be cool but still affordable...No Ipods....I got 3 kids and a limited budget....this is another thing to add into it. I can still be nice without having to be rich right?. If they don't have access to a computer (and availability to download) then having an MP3 player is a wee bit difficult. I am thinking of kids who aren't getting anything at all. Teens...13-17. If you had nothing would you be upset if you didn't get an MP3 player? If you would be then you aren't the kids I am trying to shop for.

The gift card thing is a good idea but it's is awfully small in that sack so I need some other stuff too!

Well, I'd have liked some kind of portable music playing device (like a cd player or MP3 player) and batteries as needed. It wouldn't have to be a fancy one.
Maybe a nice book that could be a sketchbook or a diary and some nice pens/pencils.
A gift certificate for going to the movies or maybe starbucks.
Those IQ 2000 20-questions gadgets are fun to play with.
I might stay away from the clothes and makeup if I were you because you don't know their size, skin colour, or fashion preferences. (But if you do get clothes, maybe you could leave the tag and the receipt so they could exchange it if they want to) But I like the lotion idea. Or plain lip balm, perhaps.
Edited to add
Oh, or what about a regular camera that takes film and a few rolls of film with the developing pre-paid (if you can still get those at your local film-developing place).

Well I would say things that would be great are lotions like bath and body works ect.. Clothes or vouchers just to be used on clothes. Fun things for school like cool pens or pencils. A new back pack. Cool stuff because a lot of times they can't afford anything but the basics.

lotions, hair ties, makeup, local mall gift card (so they can pick out a clothing item themselves, WAY to hard to try and pick out something yourself), you could make a movie kit with a movie gift card and candy, an mp3 player (you can get some pretty cheep as long as you don't buy an ipod)
Teenagers are VERY tricky! Which is proably why they get overlooked. I am sure they will apreciate anything you give!

Gift cards. I think they'd really appreciate that. My mom used to sign up for the toy drive when I was a teenager and I got some ok stuff, but gift cards would have been better. Teenagers are really tricky to buy for. Especially when you don't know who they are.

teenager mom :D this is genuine and not fake. it is likewise no longer as corny as secret existence yet i bypass to be gazing the hot season of secret existence, merely using fact i began it and that i'm curious to appreciate what's going to take place xD yet teenager mom is astounding!! :D i admire maci and bentley is the cutest toddler ever<33 Farrah isn't a stable mom.. Catelynn and Tyler are the cutest couple ever, and are somewhat in charge with their decision and Amber is a sturdy mom :)
